Cost Analyst

The Cost Analyst will maintain and validate cost for all raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods items. This position will collaborate with Operations Management and Industrial Engineering to develop shop floor policies to improve data collection and reporting for all costs associated with shop floor work orders. The Cost Analyst has a key responsibility to form and focus management teams on cost reduction programs, quality improvements, and process improvements. Additionally, this position will present recommendations to management through financial analysis and reporting. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:         Support and participate in Cost Reduction and Process Improvement Teams. Take a proactive approach to identify cost-saving initiatives related to product costing including materials, labor, and overhead expenses. Take action to inform teams of financial alternatives and weigh alternatives for improvements with groups through discussion and cost information and identify long-term cost benefits.         Complete operational reporting and performance measurements. Develop key process measures for all operational departments and meet with departments regularly to ensure the measurements will have a direct bearing upon financial performance; adjust as necessary. Follow up with the appropriate management personnel to plan and model the impact that the changes in key process measures will have upon the financial performance.         Utilize knowledge of product information to form and support cross-functional margin improvement teams with the goal of generating cost savings. Work to increase profit margins on select products or external customer accounts that are not meeting profit expectations by generating ideas to improve results. Plan and organize improvement team meetings, document meeting notes, follow up on action items and determine the impact of cost-saving plans.         Maintain responsibility for inventory control processes and procedures and verify inventory balances. Initiate new policies and procedures as required upon determination of material control issues. Complete monthly price variance, material use variance analysis and conduct follow-up with appropriate management. Coordinate facility inventory controls including cycle counts and year-end validations.         Verify and maintain all company Material, Labor and Overhead Standard Product Costs. Create and run cost validation programs to ensure costs are accurate. Update material prices, labor rates, overhead and lot sizes. Establish product structure types for inter-divisional cross charges. Establish and maintain overhead allocations, cost drivers and actual vs. standard cost comparisons. Conduct follow-ups with appropriate managers as needed to ensure the accuracy of costs and inventoryvaluations.         Complete operational accounting month-end closing process and procedures, which includes operational variance review and follow-ups with associated management. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
