Director of Safety

Design, Build, Deliver:
Using our internationally acclaimed in-house design team, we create the look without paying expensive design fees. Finally, all orders are filled from strategically located regional warehouses and are serviced by our own fleet of trucks, the largest in the industry.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Develop and promote a comprehensive safety and wellness program.
Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed by the company in accordance with the FMCSA, DOT and OSHA.
Establishes, implements and executes a consistent accident review and audit process that identifies areas of need and addresses through training, communication, counseling and discipline to minimize fleet risk.
Performs training to educate and ensure compliance with drivers, yard, maintenance shop and office personnel.
Works in conjunction with insurance providers and company attorneys to control and minimize fleet risk.
Manages the day to day operations of the safety department. Creating a positive work environment with in our core and growth values.
Prepares reviews, approves and submits safety reports and/or material or evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
Manages and follows up on safety or accident concerns from drivers, customers, and the general public.
Manages and follows up on inquiries or actions from Federal, State and local law enforcement or agencies.
Advises Human Resources regarding safety and wellness related issues, including disciplinary action, coaching, feedback, training and hiring.
Partners with operations management to further the safety culture
Completes other assignments and special projects as requested.
Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelors degree in Logistics, Business Administration or equivalent required
Experience:
7 years experience in Fleet Safety Management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
FMCSA/DOT regulations and requirements
Fleet Insurance coverage/Risk Management
Excellent communication skills to direct and convey expectations to various and numerous staff and reports
Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and project management skills
Proven ability to set priorities and to work with minimal direction and supervision

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
